How is TDEE calculated?
Your TDEE is calculated in two steps. First, your Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR) is estimated using the Mifflin-St Jeor equation — the most validated formula for estimating resting calorie burn. Then your BMR is multiplied by a physical activity multiplier that reflects how active you are.
The Mifflin-St Jeor equation is considered the gold standard for estimating BMR in non-obese adults. For the most accurate results, track your food and weight over 2 weeks and adjust from there.
